Become an Architect

The pathway to professional registration

Registration with ZIA is a legal requirement to practise architecture in Zambia. The journey takes you from accredited study through supervised practice to full professional status.

Accredited Degree

Complete a recognised architecture programme — typically a 4–5 year bachelor's degree covering design, technology, history and professional practice.

Practical Experience

Gain supervised experience in a registered practice. Graduate members log their training against ZIA's practical experience requirements.

Professional Review

Submit your application, portfolio and supporting documents to the ZIA Registration Committee for examination and approval.

Registration

On approval you are entered on the Register of Architects, receive your membership number and certificate, and may legally practise.
